La Nuit des Loups-Garous
Apprenticeship hackathon focused on sustainable infrastructure and UN Sustainable Development Goal 9.

- What I kept
- Technical feasibility matters little if the economic model lacks clear budget ownership. While our technical pitch focused on telematics sensors mounted on municipal vehicles for predictive road repair, jury questions centered almost exclusively on procurement, contract ownership, and budget allocation. Developing a viable business case requires as much technical precision as the underlying code.
- What I challenge
- Demonstrating frontend visualizations without simulated physical sensor feeds creates a gap between user experience and real-world edge hardware deployment constraints.
Overnight hackathon with a ten person team tasked with designing predictive municipal infrastructure maintenance solutions under UN SDG 9.
NextWay: Utilizing accelerometers on existing municipal waste collection trucks to detect road degradation early, allowing local authorities to repair potholes before structural damage escalates.
Technical implementation
Developed a 3D telemetry dashboard using React and Three.js displaying road network incidents over time. Telemetry data was generated client-side within the browser to demonstrate user interface capabilities.
Requirements for real-world deployment
- Signal filtering algorithms to distinguish potholes from speed bumps, manhole covers, and sudden driver braking in accelerometer datasets.
- High-precision GPS differential mapping to tie telemetry anomalies to exact road coordinates for repair crews.
- Data governance models addressing third party fleet ownership, as municipal waste collection is frequently contracted to private operators.
